If you see the OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC error when trying to connect Wiza to Salesforce, don’t worry — this is a known Salesforce behavior change and can be fixed quickly.

Below we’ll explain why this happens and exactly how to resolve it.

OAuth Error

Why This Error Happens

Salesforce recently changed how Connected Apps work.

Here’s what’s going on behind the scenes:

  • When a user connects Salesforce to Wiza for the first time, Salesforce creates a Connected App for Wiza automatically.

  • However, Salesforce does not automatically install that Connected App.

  • Salesforce now restricts the use of uninstalled Connected Apps.

Because of this:

  • System Administrators can still connect successfully (they have permission to approve uninstalled apps).

  • Non-admin users will see the OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC error when trying to connect.

So if one admin can connect but others on the team cannot — this is the reason.

How to Fix the Error

The best and safest fix is to install the Wiza Connected App in Salesforce.

This only needs to be done once by a Salesforce admin.

Step-by-Step: Install the Wiza Connected App

  1. Log into Salesforce as a System Administrator

  2. Go to Setup

  3. In the Quick Find box, search for Connected Apps OAuth Usage

  4. Find the Wiza Connected App in the list

  5. Click Install next to it

  6. Confirm the installation when prompted

Once installed, the app is trusted by Salesforce.

What Happens After Installation

After the Connected App is installed:

  • ✅ Non-admin users can connect Wiza to Salesforce

  • ✅ No special permissions are required for team members

  • ✅ The OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC error will stop appearing

No additional setup is needed.

Still Seeing Issues?

If you’ve installed the Connected App and the error persists:

  • Log out and back into Salesforce

  • Retry the connection from Wiza

  • Make sure the correct Salesforce org is being used

If you’re still stuck, reach out to support and we’ll help you get it sorted quickly.

Tip: This setup only needs to be done once per Salesforce org.
